This game is similar to Mastermind.
However, instead of matching 4 colors in a row, you are matching 6 colors on a 4 X 4 grid or 10 colors on a 5 X 5 grid.

Which pegs you got in the correct row, which pegs you got in the correct column and finally which pegs match a color on the grid but not in the correct row or column.
